High-Performance Fish Feed Machine for Aquafeed Pellet Production
Tailored for aquafeed equipment selection, our system classifies solutions based on three key dimensions: aquatic species (fish, shrimp, crab, and ornamental fish), processing technology (pelleting and extrusion), and feed behavior (floating, sinking, and slow-sinking feeds). It covers equipment configuration requirements across different process routes and production scenarios, supporting the selection and system design of fish feed production lines.
Feed Making Machines by Aquatic Species
Different aquatic animals have different feeding habits, and accordingly, feed particle size, sink/float characteristics, and processing techniques also differ. We customize on demand and match the species, allowing the feed equipment to serve the farming, and making the farming more closely aligned with reality.

Máy sản xuất thức ăn cho cá

It produces shrimp feed with neat cross-sections and uniform sizes. They soften properly in water but stay intact, allowing shrimp enough time to hold and eat them.

Crab Feed Machine
Optional Capacity :
1 – 40 T/H
Optional Capacity :
River crab, swimming crab, mud crab…
Crab feed produced by this machine features high density and fast sinking speed. It reaches the bottom quickly, remains intact on the pool floor, and perfectly matches the slow feeding habits of crabs.

Ornamental Fish Feed Pellet Machine
Optional Capacity :
0.5 – 20+ T/H
Optional Capacity :
Koi, Goldfish, Tropical fish…
Low-temp extrusion locks in nutrients and prevents color fading or dust. Customizable size and buoyancy features make the feed both nutritious and visually appealing in the aquarium.
Fish Feed Equipment by Processing Technology
Same inputs, different outputs. Feed buoyancy, pellet density, and nutrient retention are all determined by the process you choose.
Targeting different aquaculture needs, we provide multiple technologies: dry type extrusion, wet type extrusion, twin screw extrusion, and ring die pelleting. We help you select the ideal equipment to match your feed specifications and budget.
Dry Type Single Screw Extruder

Fish Feed Equipment by Feed Type
Whether feed floats or sinks determines more than just its texture—it directly affects how you feed, how efficiently fish eat, and your overall costs.
We offer the right fish feed equipment for each feed type, ensuring the feed shape perfectly matches your farming targets.
Complete fish feed production process
Based on the three selection systems of aquatic species, processing technology, and feed buoyancy, corresponding process routes (such as pelleting or extrusion) and key operating parameters are first determined according to different application needs.
On this basis, the equipment combination modes for each process section—including raw material handling, batching and mixing, forming, and post-processing—are matched, so as to form a continuously connected standardized process structure for the entire fish feed production line.
RICHI Custom Aquatic Feed Production Line
RICHI offers tailored production line solutions for fish and shrimp feed projects. We design systems to meet diverse product structures and capacity needs, supporting large-scale production and customized processes.
Our systems support two core processes: pelleting and extrusion. This allows for flexible selection based on pellet characteristics, water stability, and feeding requirements, enabling continuous production of both sinking and floating feeds.
FAQs About Aquatic Feed Production
Find professional answers to common questions, covering the key processes and important considerations in shrimp, crab and fish feed production.

1. What is the difference between a feed pellet machine and an feed extruder?
The main difference lies in the forming method.
2. Which is better for fish feed production: feed pellet machine or extruder?
For traditional species like Grass Carp and Common Carp, sinking feed still holds a large market share. Therefore, some projects still use pellet mills to reduce equipment investment and production costs.
However, with the development of intensive farming, aquaculture companies are increasingly focusing on feed utilization, management efficiency, and water quality control. The demand for floating and slow-sinking feed is rising, making the extrusion process a key choice for new fish feed projects.
If you want to cover more fish species and adapt to different farming modes, the extruder usually offers greater flexibility for product development.
3. Why can an Extruder produce floating feed?
The key lies in the special high-temperature and high-pressure processing.
Inside the extruder, raw materials undergo high temperature, high pressure, and strong shearing, causing the starch to fully gelatinize. When the material exits the die, the pressure drops instantly, causing internal moisture to vaporize and expand. This creates numerous uniform micro-pores inside the pellet.
These micro-pores lower the overall density of the pellet, allowing the feed to float on the water.
By adjusting the formula, temperature, pressure, and process parameters, extruders can also produce slow-sinking and sinking products, offering great flexibility in modern aquatic feed production.
4. Can an aquatic feed extruder and pellet mill replace each other?
There is some overlap in production, but they generally cannot completely replace each other.
For ordinary sinking fish feed, both machines can complete the task. However, for floating feed, highly cooked feed, or special functional products, the pelleting process often cannot achieve the same results as extrusion.
Conversely, while extruders can produce sinking products, their equipment investment and operating costs are typically higher than traditional pellet mills.
Therefore, they are not simple substitutes but rather different production solutions suitable for different product positioning and market demands.
5. How do I choose the right fish feed production equipment?
Before choosing, ask yourself three questions:
• What products do you plan to produce?
Is it ordinary sinking fish feed, floating fish feed, or shrimp and special aquatic feed? Different products require different processing technologies, which determines the direction of your production line.
• Will you expand your product line in the future?
Many projects start with one type of feed but add new categories as the market changes. If your equipment lacks expandability, you may face the need for re-investment later.
• How long do you plan to operate the project?
If the goal is just to meet current needs, configure the equipment for the present. If you aim for long-term operation with room for upgrades, consider future product upgrades and market changes from the very beginning.
Generally, the most suitable equipment is not the cheapest, but the one that meets current production needs while supporting future development.
6. What is the difference in production technology between floating and sinking fish feed?
The difference mainly lies in the forming process.
If you produce sinking fish feed, you usually use the pelleting process. The pellets have high density and sink naturally in water.
If you need to produce floating fish feed, you typically use the extrusion process. Through high temperature and pressure, an internal micro-pore structure is formed, allowing the pellets to float on the water surface.
For farmers, floating feed makes it easier to observe feeding and reduces waste, while sinking feed is more suitable for bottom-feeding fish.
Therefore, when planning a production line, determining whether your product is floating or sinking feed is more important than the specific equipment model.
7. What raw materials can fish feed machines process?
Most fish feed machines can handle common aquatic feed formula ingredients.
Examples include corn, soybean meal, fish meal, wheat, rice bran, and wheat bran. Some projects also add meat and bone meal, shrimp meal, rapeseed meal, or other protein sources based on formula requirements.
More important than whether it can be processed is whether the raw material ratio, moisture content, and grinding fineness meet the process requirements. The same machine will produce different pellet quality with different raw material formulas.
If you have determined your main raw material sources, providing formula information during equipment selection will help you get a more suitable production solution.
8. How does a fish feed making machine ensure stable pellet quality?
Many customers think pellet quality depends only on the machine, but the machine is just one part of the equation.
To obtain stable fish feed pellets, you must first ensure consistent raw material ratios. Second, you need to control key processes like grinding, mixing, and pelleting or extrusion. Finally, the equipment must maintain long-term stable operation.
For highly automated production lines, most process parameters can be automatically controlled, reducing fluctuations caused by human operation.
Simply put, stable formula, stable process, and stable equipment are all indispensable. Only when the entire system works in synergy can you consistently produce fish feed of uniform quality.
