Pellet mills can process a wide range of raw materials. Below are key application fields and their commonly used feedstocks:

A pellet machine is the core equipment designed to extrude, shape, and solidify various powdery, loose, and disordered materials into uniform, regular granules.
Integrated with crushing, mixing, drying, cooling, and screening equipment, it forms fully automated granulation production lines, widely applied across industries such as livestock & poultry feed, aquatic feed, biomass fuel, organic fertilizer, and cat litter.
Its main functions include:
- Processing powders into finished pellets of uniform size, moderate strength, and good flowability, facilitating storage, packaging, and transportation;
- Reducing material dust, loss, and stratification, maximizing raw material utilization, and cutting down production waste;
- Improving the physical properties of materials, enhancing palatability, combustion efficiency, or overall usage effeciveness;

Different materials vary greatly in moisture content, fineness, fiber content, and stickiness. A wrong machine choice results in low capacity, poor pellets, and machine blockages. Based on our extensive production experience, here is a simple reference to match the right machine to your material:
- Livestock and Poultry Feed:
Raw materials mainly include corn, soybean meal, and wheat bran, requiring firm pellets with a smooth surface and low powder content.
Recommended: Ring die pellet mill. Excellent pelleting quality and high efficiency, it is the mainstream choice in the feed industry. - Fish and Shrimp Feed:
Aquatic feed requires water resistance,floating, sinking or slow-sinking effects, which ordinary pellet mills cannot achieve. It mainly relies on feed extruders for production.
Recommended: Single screw (dry/wet) extruder and twin screw extruder. - Biomass Fuel:
Biomass fuels such as sawdust, straw, and rice husks are fibrous, lightweight, and prone to slipping, requiring high-pressure, wear-resistant, and durable machines.
Recommended: Ring die pellet mill – highly adaptable and less prone to clogging. - Organic Fertilizer:
Fermented manure, mushroom residue, and sludge have high moisture content and unstable viscosity, making them highly susceptible to sticking and clogging.

The hardness, uniformity, and pass rate of finished pellets cannot be guaranteed by a single machine. They are the result of comprehensive control across the entire production line—from raw materials, formula, and process, to equipment and operation.

- Stable raw material pretreatment: Consistency in raw material fineness, moisture, and ratio is the foundation of uniform pellets. Fluctuations in fineness or moisture directly compromise pellet hardness and pass rate.
- Equipment debugging + Process guidance: Based on your specific material characteristics, we fine-tune the dies, pressure, moisture, and temperature on-site to achieve optimal conditions. We also provide comprehensive training to operators to ensure stable, long-term production quality.
- High precision of core pellet mill components: Utilizing high-precision ring/flat dies and a reasonable compression ratio, combined with stable roller pressure. This ensures uniform pressure distribution in the pellet chamber, delivering pellets of consistent size and ideal hardness.
- Proper adjustment of process parameters: Stability in pelletizing temperature, feeding speed, and conditioning effects is critical. Any fluctuation in speed or moisture will lead to quality instability.
- Equipped cooling and screening systems: After pelletizing, the pellets are cooled and passed through a grading screen. This removes fines, dust, and oversized particles, ensuring that only qualified finished products remain.
As long as standard procedures are followed, particle uniformity, hardness, and finished product qualification rate can all reach stable industry levels.
