Attention should be paid to the use of wheat bran and wheat straw feed

Wheat bran and wheat straw are important feeds in the main wheat producing areas, and rational use of them can play an important role in the development of animal husbandry. If it is used improperly, it will not only fail to exert its due effect, but also cause certain diseases of livestock and poultry and bring certain economic losses.

1. Wheat bran

Wheat bran is a high-phosphorus and low-calcium feed, and its ratio of phosphorus to calcium is 4:1, which is the opposite of the physiological ratio of calcium to phosphorus required by livestock and poultry of 1.5-2:1. Feeding too much wheat bran can cause calcium and phosphorus imbalanced calcium deficiency. Such as rickets in young animals, rickets in adult animals, intestinal stones in equine animals, urolithiasis in male livestock, and thin-shelled eggs in poultry. The key measure for safe feeding of wheat bran is to master a reasonable amount, generally speaking, it should be controlled below 20% of the compound feed. Specifically:

(1) Chicken feed pellet production : 8 weeks ago should account for 25% to 5%, 9 weeks to start production 11% to 15%, laying hens accounted for 15%, and broilers accounted for 2% to 8%.

(2) Pigs feed pellet production: do not feed wheat bran before 40 days of age, 12% of Klang pigs under 55 kg, 15% of fattening pigs of 55 kg to 90 kg, 20% of breeding boars and pregnant sows, and 16 of lactating sows %.

2. Wheat straw

Untreated wheat straw has high crude fiber content, extremely low digestibility, and poor palatability. It is not a favorite for domestic animals and can easily cause complications to equine animals. It is a low-quality feed. However, if it is specially treated, the method is the same as wheat bran, and all kinds of livestock can be used for feeding.

The second is ammoniating treatment, which can be treated with ammonia, ammonium bicarbonate, or urea. Take urea treatment as an example: Dissolve 10 kg of urea with 90 kg of water into a 10% solution, chopped wheat straw, about 2 cm to 3 cm in length, spray 30 kg of urea solution for every 100 kg of straw, mix well, and seal with plastic film When the temperature is above 20℃, it can be used after half a month. It is better to feed ruminants such as cattle and sheep.
